Operating in Uganda, Rwanda, DRC, and Tanzania, RTV partners with remote, rural communities to implement data-driven, sustainable development solutions that increase household incomes and improve living standards.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Project Officer, the Project Assistant is responsible for day-to-day, grassroots implementation of RTV methodologies within assigned partner villages. The role involves leading community-level trainings, verifying input distributions, conducting household follow-ups, and collaborating with local leaders to ensure project compliance, active community participation, and long-term sustainability.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Project Implementation

Conduct project design review meetings with village partners; co-facilitate community trainings in financial literacy, VSLA, agriculture, livestock management, and WASH; verify inputs prior to distribution; provide ongoing support to households and community groups.

Reporting & Administration

Develop work plans; submit weekly field activity reports; prepare weekly financial requests and reconciliations for the Senior Project Officer; capture field photos for data repositories; participate in weekly staff and cluster meetings.

Monitoring & Evaluation

Gather field-level feedback and recommendations to refine project methodologies; identify implementation risks and suggest actionable solutions to improve program sustainability.

Community Relations

Maintain regular dialogue with local leaders and community members to track participation, manage expectations, and address field challenges.

Qualifications & Competencies

Education

Bachelor’s

Degree

in Community Development, Project Management, Development Studies, Social Work, or a related field.

Experience

Minimum of 2+ years of professional experience in community development, project facilitation, or grassroots field implementation.

Languages

Fluency in Kiswahili and local dialects (

Kinyambo

and

Kihaya

) is required. Strong verbal and written English communication skills.

Technical & Soft Skills

Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel); strong group facilitation, training, and relationship-building skills; ability to work independently in remote field settings.

Field Requirements

Energetic and physically fit to hike high-terrain rural areas; willing to travel up to 90% of the time within assigned wards.
