Role Overview & Key Responsibilities

  • The Wait Staff provides high-quality food and beverage service to premium guests at the marhaba Airport Lounge in Zanzibar. The role focuses on creating a warm, welcoming environment, maintaining attractive food displays, adhering strictly to international food hygiene regulations, and ensuring seamless lounge operations.
  • Guest Hospitality & Service: Warmly welcome lounge guests, brief them on available facilities, present food and beverage offerings, advise on food allergens, and assist at the bar with juices and alcoholic beverages.
  • Food Safety & Hygiene Standards: Maintain clean food serving and storage areas, monitor chiller temperatures, verify reheating standards, and check expiration dates on packaged items according to food safety guidelines.
  • Lounge Replenishment & Maintenance: Regularly replenish self-serve food stations, check coffee machine supplies, monitor stock levels, and coordinate with catering suppliers for timely food deliveries.
  • Facility upkeep & Collaboration: Clear and sanitize dining tables promptly, liaise with Housekeeping for floor spillages, and report facility maintenance issues (e.g., AC, equipment, menu display updates) to the Hosting Lead.

Safety & Compliance

Practice

safety awareness, wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and adhere to all corporate health, safety, and environmental management policies.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Certificate, Diploma, Degree, Vocational/Technical qualification, or O-Level / High School Certificate.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 1+ years of customer service or hospitality experience, preferably within a hotel, high-end restaurant, or airport lounge setting.
  • Language Skills: High standard of written and spoken English (Mandatory requirement).
  • Core Competencies: Strong customer service orientation, attention to hygiene, basic knowledge of food and beverage service, and safety awareness.
